About www.dowebseo.com

The information on this website has been gained through the experience of trying to optimiseĀ a website on Google for a set of target search terms. Getting a reasonable position in SERPS took a number of months and involved a steep learning curve involving a lot of research, a lot of time online, some friendly advice, some paid (and still friendly) advice and a number of mistakes and about-turns. And, of course, having achieved my target I still have to carry on optimising, tweaking and researching to continue to perform well.

By searching the internet you will find extra information about SEO from very reputable companies with a fine record of helping people achieve good search engine ranking positions. They are quite easy to find - search for “SEO” on Google - the ones who come highest in the search engines are the best at their job!

There are no quick fixes to good rankings for a new website. It will almost always take time and effort to become visible on the internet via search engines. In particular, off-site optimisation and link-building can take a great deal of time and effort - many hours over many months. If you don’t have the stamina, I recommend you pay for professional SEO help.

The information on this site is suitable for new website designers. More advanced designers will likely already know this information and may have a few tricks up their sleeves.

One thing is for certain, only the search engine companies themselves know the full story of how to optimise a web page or web site. Over time these companies change the rules. Today’s tricks may not work forever. Search engine algorithms get better and better and spot undesirable practices (from their point of view) more and more. For this reason I recommend staying away from so-called “black hat” SEO or strategies that could attract a penalty from the major search engines. Play the game the search engines want - get good, meaningful backlinks, quality content (easy to say) and target success in the medium to long term.
